Health benefits

Sorghum contains a lot of fiber, which helps the digestive tract, regulates the rate of bowel movements and accelerates the excretion of toxins from the body. There are also important amino acids: leucine, tryptophan and lysine. Sorghum contains little fat, most of which are unsaturated fatty acids, including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. This cereal is a good source of B vitamins (mainly niacin, thiamine and vitamin B6) that participate in energy metabolism, accelerate metabolism and control the functioning of the nervous system. Manganese, which is abundant in sorghum, is an essential component of bones, it also affects sexual function and fertility, thyroid function and protection against free radicals. The high content of magnesium in cereals promotes bone health, and the presence of iron and copper reduces the risk of anemia, increases energy levels and promotes faster hair growth. Sorghum contains a lot of potassium and very little sodium, so it works favorably on blood pressure and the level of retained fluids in the body.

Contains bioactive antioxidants such as lignans, phenolic acids, plant sterols and saponins - some of the strongest plant antioxidants. Thanks to the rich composition of sorghum reduces the risk of colorectal cancer more than other cereals, affects the lowering of blood cholesterol levels and supports the functioning of the blood system.

How to use

Sorghum is a great starch additive for potatoes instead of potatoes or rice. You can also add to breakfast cereals and desserts.

In China, sorghum produces vinegar and strong "baijiu" alcohol. Flour can be the basis for preparing pies, pancakes, dumplings, couscous and bread.
